Nose in a Book Club has declared a “state of emergency”

After three club nights with only two or three members in attendance, our book club seems to be in danger of becoming extinct.  How appropriate it is that our new junior member chose City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau for this month’s book selection.  Please send your ideas, suggestions, and feedback before our lights go out!

I, too, have felt the awkwardness of only two in attendance. However, I am much more guilty of missing the club. A few times it has slipped my mind, but as of late I have been deeply entrenched in a variety of family issues that has consumed my time and energy. I can only hope to do better in the future but without new members it seems inevitable that our numbers will remain low. It seems that it has become Chris’s burden to keep things going and it’s not fair to her. I, too, have run into the same problem: that those interested in a book club are already involved in a different one.

In short, I guess I concur with Chris’s assessment. Unless someone has some ideas, the prognosis appears bleak.
